Not natively supported but can work if you don't mind a little work. OWCs step-by-step video of how to install a hard drive in the Apple Mac mini 2010 with Model ID: Macmini4,1. (check the spec's, not all 6Gb/s SSDs are backwards compatible to 3Gb/s) For good step by step DIY instructions, see > Mac Mini Mid 2010 Hard Drive Replacement - iFixit. ![]() Tl dr: the WD black 2 is a SSD & HD in one nice package. The 2010 Mac Mini has a SATA II 3Gb/s interface and you need to make sure that the SATA III 6Gb/s SSD you purchase is backward compatible to SATA II 3Gb/s. Used some commands to make the paritions into a Fusion drive. ![]() Ran Disk Utility and paritioned the new drive as 120.03 GB and the rest as the other parition. Installer ran with no problem, the drive was unlocked. So I installed Windows7 via Bootcamp onto the original drive and booted the MBP from W7 on the USB enclosure after installing the new WD drive onto the SATA port in the MBP. I tried putting the drive in a SATA enclosure and mounting it via USB in VirtualBox but the installer is too smart and really wants the drive on the SATA bus. I over thought things and tried not to run the Windows only app to unlock it (why WD did this I don't know it's kind of a dick move). Operating temperature: 50° to 95° F (10° to 35° C) Storage temperature: -40° to 116° F (-40° to 47° C) Relative humidity: 5 to 95 noncondensing. Im still using the original hard drive which is a 320gig 5400rpm negotiating at SATA 1.5 (the Mac Mini is capable of SATA-3). It turns out that the 1 TB drive is locked out unless you run the WD Installer app. Ive got a mid-2010 Mac Mini running Mountain Lion (w/ all available updates) and doing Time Machine backups to an external Western Digital 2 terabyte drive. WD says the drive is not compatible with a Mac but I did some research before buying it. It also looks cool (not that you can see it much after install but shut up it's cool!). It has a 1TB drive AND a 120 GB SSD sandwiched on top. My 2010 MBP was starting to be a little fussy when the size got down to less than 10 GB free on the drive (an issue unto itself ).
